Bumi Kami was founded by a group of Youth Action Forum 2018 Alumni who were Alivia, Dwi, Meriza, Nara, Salman, and Sofi. Eka, Eva, and Yahya joined the team after Team Bumi finished their sensing phase (a story about sensing can be read here). Despite each team member has different backgrounds, they can put aside their self-ego for the same purpose. Youth Action Forum taught us well to be a leader and to work in a team effectively.
At the time, Alivia, as the project leader focus on working for Bumi Kami. Dwi, Meriza, Nara, and Salman are still studying in university (except Nara who is still in Senior High School) but they really commit to work on Bumi Kami as well. Sofi, Eka, Eva, and Yahya are young professionals working in organizations or institutions, but they spare their time to work with Team Bumi. Rosa and her team as craftswomen in Parewatana work full time with Bumi Kami. We work together with Parewatana Village to promote Sustainable Tourism in Indonesia.
Team Bumi has some major achievements, which are:
-
The winner of Youth Action Forum 2018, held by United in Diversity and SDSN Youth.
-
Selected as Top Ten Team to join the Young Changemakers Social Enterprise Academy Bootcamp, held by Campaign and @atamerica.
-
Alivia was selected as a participant on Women Leadership Academy 2019 for YSEALI.
